Judd Family Farm
Meadow Lynn Farms was established in 1946 by Fred Judd Sr.
Fred, Sharon and Thomas Judd are the present proprietors of the family farm and their main business is dairy, along with their strawberry pick-your-own patch.
The Judds have had jersey cows since the farm was established and continue to breed for jersey cows because the milk they produce is high in butter-fat and protein.
Fred oversees all the field work on the farm. In addition to his involvement in their strawberry operation, he grows winter wheat, soybeans, grain and hay for the cattle.
Thomas is responsible for the milking, breeding and cow comfort. He carries out all the day-to-day operations in the dairy barns. Thomas is also responsible for sales, marketing and showing of cattle.
The Judd farm has become well known locally for delicious, juicy, pick-your-own and farm stand strawberries. Today thousands of strawberry plants cover five and a half acres. Sharon takes care of the strawberries, she researches strawberry varieties, places the orders, sets runners, weeds, cultivates and waters, hires, trains and supervises staff, and handles the marketing.
The Judds’ two daughters, Sarah and Susan, have also been involved in all aspects of strawberry growing and sales. Although Sarah and Susan are busy pursuing their own careers in life, you can still find them in the patch from time-to-time.
Thomas is married to Sarah Harrigan. Sarah grew up on a small cash-crop farm near St. Marys, Ontario. She currently works off-farm, but in her spare time you will most likely see her in the garden.
You can also find Ron, Fred’s father out on the tractor cutting hay in the summer months.
